Mathematical models of human memory

چکیده
Human memory is an incredibly complex system of vast capacity but often unreliable. Measuring for realistic material, such as narratives, quantitatively challenging people rarely remember narratives verbatim. Cognitive psychologists developed experimental paradigms involving randomly collected lists items that make possible quantitative measures performance in tasks, recall and recognition. Here, we describe a set mathematical models designed to predict the results these experiments. The are based on simple underlying assumptions surprisingly agree with quite well, addition they exhibit interesting behavior can partially be understood analytically.

Mathematical models for human cancer incidence rates
The overall cancer incidence rate declines at old ages. Possible causes of this decline include the effects of cross-sectional data that transform cohort dynamics into age patterns, population heterogeneity that selects individuals susceptible to cancer, a decline in some carcinogenic exposures in older individuals, underdiagnostics, and the effects of individual aging that slow down major phys...
متن کاملEstimating human energy intake using mathematical models.
Typical instruments for assessing energy intake in humans rely primarily on self-report and are now recognized to be quantitatively inaccurate and imprecise (1, 2). This limitation poses a major challenge for human obesity research because energy intake is believed to be an important driver in the pathogenesis of obesity and is a key target of obesity treatment at both the individual and popula...
متن کاملSimulation of Pedestrian Dynamics with Macroscopic and Microscopic Mathematical Models
Here, we collect two parts of a research project on the pedestrian flow modeling. Rapid growth in the volume of public transport and the need for its reasonable, efficient planning have made the description and modeling of transport and pedestrian behaviors as important research topics in the past twenty years. First, we present a macroscopic model for the pedestrian flow based on continuum mec...
